Natchitoches (pronounced as ‘Nack-A-Tish’ – 30 April) to Shreveport. (1 May)

We are on route to Dallas and stop over in  Nack-a-Tish.

The Cane river runs through the town and has a wonderfull riverfront with beautiful buildings, walkways and rest areas. Rich in tabacco and sugarcane plantations fueling the towns economy – and tourists.

We book into the Best Western and have a good nights rest – good hotel 👍🏻

1 May – morning…..Eldine is very upset because she lost her shell necklace somewhere between yesterday afternoon and this morning.

Hopefully it will come to light somewhere 🤷🏼‍♂️

We eat breakfast and travel forward on to Dallas – next stopover in Shreveport. Shreveport is the 3rd largest city in Louisiana. Oil the largest contributor to the economy, the crazy thing we saw was 4 large casinos so close to each other you can throw a blanket over them, scary!!!

Around the corner next to the river you find a huge ‘mall’ lots of stores, brand names etc – BUT no people. We go watch the Avengers movie at the theater- iMax. Noooooo to the end of the movie !!!!! NO !!!

Movies 🎥, you buy a large popcorn and large cold drink and then refill as many times as you like. Best.

A clear line (the Red River) devides Bossier City and Shreveport from each other. It’s almost as if a line is drawn betweenthe old and the new.

We book into our hotel (Country Inn) and for the first time on our travels we get a sub standard room. Advertized as 3 star it was way below that !!!!

Driving to look for a place to eat we pass a sport ground with spraylights and stop. Kids are playing baseball league. We talk to one of the parents as we watch them play and get some pointers on the game etc, the mom directs us to a local restaurant – Chilli’s.

More good : we go to eat at Chilli’s restaurant. We are met by Talon and our waitress is Sara. What great people they are and so excited to meet and serve us, we get a great meal and great service. So nice to chat to them about Africa, South Africa, our ways and what they do. All the best for the two of you.

Tomorrow onward to Dallas. We booked on air BnB, a room in a house with use of common areas, hopefully better than this place !
